The youth of Wa in the Upper West Region staged a protest earlier today, burning lorry tyres to express their outrage over yet another suspected kidnapping case that has plagued the municipality in recent months.
Between 2021 and September of this year, nine people were reportedly kidnapped, four of whom were killed and parts of their bodies removed.
Before embarking on the protest, the youth besieged Wa Naa’s palace to express their displeasure with the recent events.
The police in Wa used tear gas to disperse the enraged crowd.
On Thursday, September 15, the Upper West Regional Security Council issued a statement outlining measures to combat the increase in criminal activity in the Wa municipality.
This came after the police administration organized a stakeholder engagement.
